10 years in HR and you don't see the need to consistantly apply a hiring process? Maybe your experience and knowledge is all it takes. But conducting a consistant hiring process is a big boost to a defense against discrimitory hiring by an applicant for a different position.

Wonderlic - Useless test?? by: Anonymous
Kris, this seems kind of ironic. Assessments that are made to determine various capabilities and improve organizational performance. If you can't measure it, it doesn't exist and how would HR prove its value to the overall strategy through human capital if you didn't have assessments to improve your selection process? It seems to me you are suffering at the expense of your own chosen career path. welcome.

Cognitive ability, which is what the WPT measures, is the best predictor of potential success on the job. This is a documented fact. However it should be the only criteria used when making a hiring decision - personality, critical skills, experience, references, etc. are all part of the overall picture of an applicant. Since you were applying for an HR Manager position, I am surprised that you were not aware of this. Either way, good luck with your job search.
