There are about 100 billion neurons and 100 trillion synapses are working in your brain at any given moment. We are far from to know how do they do? It is also a big question why they stop working as they are supposed to do?
But there is a good news that science has started to understand brain in new dimensions. Thomas Insel, Director of the National Institute of Mental Health, reveals how we need to look at brain disorders like depression and schizophrenia, with a new thought process. He prefers the term brain disorder over the mental disorder for a good reason.
Generally, we take behavioral changes as symptoms for mental disorder. However, Thomas Insel discloses that behavioral changes appear decades after the beginning of mental disorder. His presentation shows that mental disorder may start at any age, even before someone's 20th birthday. He shows that reducing gray matter may cause disorder in your brain.
He has concluded that early detection and intervention in mental disorder can give us the best outcome.

She supports attempts to prevent this disease but she has failed to find any protection which yields 100% results. She jumps to the conclusion that every person should prepare herself or himself for a mental disorder.
She mentions three things that can prepare one for such a mental disorder. Interesting to watch!

The opinions are sharply divided on diets or supplements to prevent a mental disorder. Factually, no medicine can prevent it fully. However, these diet supplements may help us to delay a mental disorder as much as possible.
There are a lot of companies selling these supplements. These diets are generally called Nootropics and are taken as brain food. If you desire to take any of them, please make your independent research and even take help of your physician.
As far as my research goes, I have found these two companies having a lot of good reviews and positive comments:
