How to Prepare for IQ Mensa Test?

The IQ Mensa Test not only claims to measures your intelligence but also helps you to enter a community where each member claims high rate of intelligence. There are strong contradicting opinions upon the claims of Mensa community but it is true that Mensa membership is offered only to those candidates who end up in the top 2% of the IQ test takers. There is no evidence that Mensa membership can help you for your desired career but it is still interesting and fun to encounter IQ Mensa Test successfully. Here you shall find a few tips to prepare for Mensa IQ test.

How to Improve Your Weak Areas?

The Mensa IQ Test does not focus on one area of intelligence. The multiple choice questions are set from different disciplines to know the maximum about your alertness of mind. You should try to discover your strengths and weakness much before encountering an Mensa IQ test.

Suppose you have very poor English vocabulary so you shall perform badly in the verbal IQ test. Similarly, when you don’t know what is octagon you can’t correctly answer the question about sides of an octagon.

Obviously the study material is not going to increase your intelligence but they offer such techniques that can help you to understand the reasoning and logics behind the items that you are going to face in your IQ Mensa test.

You can also ask for printable pre- IQ Mensa test to be taken at your home. Some local groups offer such pre-tests. If you are lucky enough to find one, you should be able to set your own atmosphere to answer the questions. You shall find most of the questions measuring your inductive reasoning. It is type of the reasoning in which you go from specific to general. The inductive reasoning is crucial for problem solving.

The official site of Mensa says that such pre-tests are just for fun and the results are not considered proper for your entitlement as Mensa member. You are advised to send the test results back to the office from where you have got the material so that the office may invite you properly to take the IQ Mensa test.

It is interesting to note that when candidates take IQ Mensa test for second time, they score better than their previous attempt. It does not mean that their intelligence increases in time between but in fact they become used to the test situation and the nature of the problems. So it is advisable to prepare before taking IQ Mensa test because it involves some fees to take a real Mensa Test.

Time Limit and IQ Mensa Test

Like most of the intelligence tests, the IQ Mensa Test has a time limit. You are required to answer all the items within the given time. You should take some practice IQ tests to increase your speed to answer the questions.

Time to answer all the questions is an important factor in Mensa IQ tests. When you take too long to answer the questions, your scoring shall be slashed even when you have answered all the answers correctly.

What Aids Allowed?

While taking an IQ Mensa test, you are not allowed to use paper or pencil to make some kind of rough work. It is all out your mental exercise to solve the problems without any kind of aids. You are required to select your answers from the multiple choices. You should not waste too much time on a question when you are unable to find the correct answer within reasonable time. Place some sort of character to come back to answer the question correctly. Even if you are unable to find the correct answer then, you should make the best choice for a chance.

Initially, the Mensa was started in the U.K. However, with the passage of time the Mensa organization has expanded. Now its members come from more than 100 countries. Mensa has established its local groups in more than 40 countries.

For the diversity of cultural backgrounds, the Mensa has developed different tests for different countries. It is better to contact your local office to know the cultural dimensions of the IQ Mensa test to encounter it successfully.
