It depends upon how the gears are connected. If the teeth for each gear connect then, yes, your answer is correct. They could be connected by a line, however, and both turn the same way.

And, Tom might not be poisoned at all. Just because Tom like to eat raspberries from the store does not mean he ate them while they were poisoned. In fact, Tom may like to eat raspberries from the store, but he may never actually eat them. Perhaps he has no money or is out of town.
