If the early sailors had never stopped in Africa the natives would never had learned English or any skills.

Therefore the slaves brought to America suffered many hardships they had the OPPORTUNITY to progress and become the intelligent and wealthy segment of society they are today.

Opportunity is the key to development and success.

Thanks Duncan for your thought-provoking comments. I feel agreeing to the idea. Yet this "IF" is very important factor in any result. There can be no disagreement that America is a land of opportunity. However, everyone in the USA is neither rich nor successful. Sometimes the unemployment ratios become terrifying.

Opportunities swim with the social flow of a society and the globe overall. It is clarity in the goals, daily persistent achievement of small related tasks and feelings of gratitude that make most of the success.
