Criminal organizations bribed government employees and senior officials to avoid consequences of their misdeeds. There should be amendment in laws to deal more strictly with these? What does amendment mean in these circumstances?


Criminal organisations have been known to bribe government officials in order to avoid the consequences of their misdeeds. Should there be an amendment in law in order to deal more strictly with this?
What does 'amendment' mean in the context of this paragraph?
