GATB Standard Measurement Error

by Barbara
(Not Given)

I received some results on a candidate that completed this testing and I wonder if you could clarify this comment:

GATB standard scores "(adjusted upwards by one standard error of measurement)

What does this mean?

I realize that this was not purchased from you, but if you're unable to provide details can you refer me to someone who would be able to clarify.

Thank you for your time.

GATB and IQ Standard Error
by: Saqib-Admin

To Barbara,

"adjusted upwards by one standard error of measurement"

I don't claim myself an authority on test measurements. However, in my opinion, 'standard error' is a statistical usage. No GATB or no IQ test even can measure your potentials and capabilities with all out mathematical equations. There are always chances of errors. Furthermore, to normalize the raw results, the psychologists have to use 'standard error of measurement' to avoid confusions. It may be adjusted upward or downside depending your scoring. Suppose you get a score of 100 in an IQ test and it may be read as 90 or 110 depending upon your performance in given parameters. The normalized results are interpreted as per requirements of the employer or the subjects.
